A little bit about our beads...

Our online store is divided into several categories depending on the type of beads you are interested in. We personally hand select and import nearly all of the beads we sell. Most of our beads are produced in family run cottage industries and we always practice fair trade. Through our sales we give back to the communities that make our beads. Our selection of gemstone beads includes a large variety of sizes, shapes and stones. Because we favor carnelian agate our selection is particulary broad and includes everything from small rice shaped beads to large ancient beads. We offer turquoise beads in all colors, shapes and sizes, both American & Chinese. Our recycled glass beads are made in Java and Ghana. We love old beads, especially the stone beads from Mali, ancient beads from Peru and faience beads from Afghanistan. From Guatemala we have beads made by the Maya Indians; many are jade and some are preColumbian. We have many collectible, rare and fancy trade beads from Venice and other European cities including; Russian Blues, French Cross, Vaseline, Chevrons and many more. Happy Mango Beads is known for it's vast selection of natural and organic beads, all are handcrafted and come from several countries. These beads include; coral, pearls, seashells, nuts, lava rock, wood, and bone - to name a few. Old stone beads are a favorite of ours; many have been discovered during excavations and include beautiful granite, quartz and amazonite. Most of our metal beads were handmade in small cottage industries in Africa using age old methods that date back hundreds of years, included are silver, copper and brass. We sell intricate sterling silver beads which were produced in Bali, Indonesia, plus the less expensive copies from India. We have fine repesentatives of the beads used in trade by the Native American Indians in the last few hundred years. Happy Mango Beads is known for it's great selection of ethnic beads and amongst them are traditional Tibetan beads, most are produced by refugees living in Nepal. Besides beads we also carry a variety of pendants and amulets including; coptic crosses, traditional Maori symbols, southwest bears, recycled glass stars, Taxco sterling silver, religious medallions from the Vatican and more. We love handcrafted beads and we believe our webstore reflects it!
