Amazonite:
Amazonite is found in many different regions, although it is primarily found in the USA (Virginia), Brazil, Australia, Zimbabwe, Namibia and Russia. Amazonite is a gem consisting of natural chemicals including some minuscule impurities of lead which contributes to its beautiful blue-green color. It exhibits a fantastic iridescence of light due to slight inclusions of crystal within the gem.
Amazonite is relatively soft stone and ranges from 5-6 on the Moh’s scales.
Myths and Therapeutic Properties:
Used widely by the Egyptians, this important stone is said to have many uses. It is believed to have given the Amazon women warriors’ courage and hence was named “The Stone of Courage”. It is assumed that this is where the name Amazonite originated. This stone is also deemed to encourage confidence and hope, as well as balance charkas, energy and metabolism. It has been used therapeutically to assist with chronic calcium deficiency, osteoporosis, tooth decay and muscle spasms.
