Apatite is found worldwide with major sources in Brazil, Burma, and Mexico. Other less notable sources include Canada, Czechoslovakia, Germany, India, Madagascar, Mozambique, Norway, South Africa, Spain, Sri Lanka, and the United States.
Apatite is a group of phosphate minerals that is infrequently used as a gemstone. Transparent stones of a clean color, usually green and occasionally found in colorless, yellow, blue to violet, pink or brown colors can be cut and used as gemstones.

Apaptite comes from the Greek apatos, which means “to deceive” because of its appearance that is similar to other stones. Apatite has many uses aside from gemstone uses including additives for dental health (fluorapatite) and uses as fertilizer for tobacco. It is also known as a “Humanitarian Stone”, aiding in helping mother earth. It is believed to promote good will and love for others. Apatite is also thought to reduce stress and decrease hunger.
