The earliest Egyptians are known to have placed jewelry made from carnelian on their dead believing it would protect them during their journey to the afterlife, as well as guard against evil. There are many myths regarding carnelian due to its long and varied history throughout the world. Some of the most popular include: bringing good luck, success and prosperity.
