Chevrons
Old Chevron Beads
The chevron is known as the king of beads. They were first produced toward the end of the 14th century in Venice and Murano, Italy. Chevrons are often referred to as "rosetta" or star beads, as they were made from heated glass
canes which were drawn through specially constructed star shaped moulds, thus producing a star-like design on each end of the bead. The finest chevrons have 7 layers, these are the oldest and most sought after. The size, age, condition and number of layers are the factors which determine a chevron's value. These beads are sold individually. Click on the image below and a new page will open offering larger views, a detailed description and purchase information.
