Pressed Czech Glass Beads
All of the beads on this page were completely handcrafted of glass in the Czech Republic. The quality is superior. Some of this amazing glass is as much as 100 years old. Be sure to read all descriptions thoroughly; note the bead size, bead count and realize that some 'strands or bags' will include as little as 25 beads and some might include more than 100 beads.
Pressed glass beads are made by inserting a long rod of glass cane into a gas furnace. The resulting molten glass is then pressed into a mold while a needle is simultaneously inserted to form the hole. Upon cooling, the beads undergo a two-stage tumble process: initially excess glass is broken off and then the surface is smoothed.
