Native American Indian Trade Beads
Many African trade beads were used extensively by the North American Indians for adornment and trade. These beads were originally brought to the US in the 1700, 1800 & early 1900's by Europeans, many of whom were involved in the African slave trade. Nearly all of the trade beads we sell were purchased in Africa, and though most of these beads are the same age (and technically the same beads) as those found in the US, they didn't travel overseas. Most of the beads on this page are sold 'by the strand' unless specified otherwise.
