What is pewter? Pewter is alloy metal which combines tin, copper and antimony together; modern day pewter contains no silver. Pewter was a widely used metal during colonial times in the United States. At that time it was used to make kitchen & tableware, jewelry and other goods. In past times lead was added in the production, but today it is not as this has been found to be a health hazard. A newly purchased object made out of pewter will generally be very shiny. Though it doesn't tarnish, over a period of time pewter may change to have a slightly grayer look. This should not be considered a flaw in the piece because this is a natural process of the metal reacting to various elements. Pewter can be cleaned with soap and water.

Runestones... are ancient fortune telling talismans used by the Nordic peoples. They were one of the earliest writing systems in Northern Europe and were used by cultures from Britain to Scandinavia to Russia. Far beyond simple symbols, runes were considered magical, and those with the ability to read runecraft were regarded as mystical shamans. With runes one could tell fortunes, mark the almanac and record the details of everyday life. Runes were used to mark the passage of time and seasons, which was vital because of the short lived summer in the north. The people of the north were skilled astronomers, creating a system for making the changes of the seasons. The ancient Norse divided the year into 24 half months called seles. To each sele was governed by one of the 24 rune symbols. Those born during that sele were believed to possess the magical properties of the rune they were born under, and it was believed that this rune shaped their personality and their fortunes.
